Villa Generale is a spectacular setting for luxurious weekly sojourns, events and weddings. The villa includes four bedrooms, four comfortable bathrooms, and cosy living rooms furnished with splendid period furniture to guarantee the greatest relax.Each room has windows or wide balconies overlooking the sea, and are distinguished for the splendor of furniture, period items and frescoed ceilings. One of the rooms is preserved pristine as it was ages ago: and that's exactly the room in which it is said that the king Gioacchino Murat would have slept in the October of 1808.Other than offering the constant presence of a guardian and a maid, who dwell in the villa, always available in any case, the villa features every comfort: pool, telephone, internet connection, central heating, parking space, fine linen for the bed and for the bathrooms and an outdoor barbecue. Exceptional scenario for memorable events, English weddings and classy concerts, the garden puts the spell to make unforgettable every moment lived inside this small paradise.Enchanting, enchanted, marvelous, magical, breathtaking are just adjective which cannot really explain the beauty of the views offered by the terraces and by the solarium of villa Generale in Massa Lubrense. It feels like being part of those splendid postcards or fine gouaches inside which enjoying the near Capri, Ischia, Marina della Lombra and Gulf of Naples, all offered from different angles. A landscape which is never monotonous. Inside this enchanted background fit the two terraces of the historical dwelling, both enriched with chairs and tables in wrought iron for pleasant relaxing moments. The first is at the ground floor, with access to the living room: its cosyness is the best for relaxation.The second, at the first floor, is distributed on the two faces of the villa. Its wide enough to host open-air events and is enriched by tables made in fine majolicas of the XIX century. The solarium, accessible from the first floor going up the historical staircase in local stone, is perfectly organized for unforgettable sunbathing with deckchairs, cloths and showers. In the evening, nicely enlightened, the villa is the ideal setting to host enchanting soirées and parties.
Outdoor Space
Built upon two levels, a ground floor and a first floor, both provided with terraces overlooking the sea, the structure is also furnished with a solarium at the highest end. On the yard, bound by an artistic enclosure in wrought-iron and gifted by a paving stones floor and by the presence of an age-old olive tree, stands out the face, splendidly enlightened by night. Remarkable historical fragments strike amid the charming rhythm of its windows and its balcony: the coat of arms of Sersale royal family, and two engravings which commemorate the sojourn of Gioacchino Murat, king of Naples, during the seizure of Capri in 1808, one engraved in 1928 and the other 2008 by the authorities in Massa Lubrense to celebrate the bicentenary of the event. Inside an idyllic atmosphere, where the sea, into which are mirrored Capri and Ischia, fuses with the blue of the sky, the gardens of villa Generale in Massa Lubrense offer many enchanting spots into which one could feel in armony with nature and life. Welcomed inside a charming living hall en plein-air, organized with tables and chairs in wrought iron, hammocks and rocking chairs, the garden of the villa is the ideal place to relax and breath new life with walks amidst age-old trees and botanical rarities which are typical to the Mediterrean. Between those, one could admire an age-old Mastic with its peculiar twisted frame, or find the Strawberry Tree, defined by Plinius the Old “I shall eat just one” (Arbutus unedo) from the peculiar taste of its fruits. Ever-present are then pines, cipresses and holm oaks; and also the ibiscus and many other species typical of the mediterranea maquis. Strikes, among the other trees, for its unique story, an age-old olive tree, situated at the entrance of the villa, peculiar for its shape similar to a volcano. The two-sloped roof keeps its original tiles, well restored; moreover there is a telescope with which one can admire the stunning landscape and... feel for a moment the king of Naples Giocchino Murat while he was peering into the results of the battle with the englishmen.
Indoor Space
Between past and present, beauty and elegance are the unchanging factor of every room in Villa Generale in Massa Lubrense. From the limestone entrance gateway, one is immediately introduced to the simple and sober hall from the XVI Century. Upon a pavement of square blocks in sandstone, the room is embellished with pots, art objects and prints, all wisely chosen to keep the ancient memory of these places alive. From the left side, one has access to the first living room of the villa, particularly suitable for small-scale receptions, for elite meetings or other classy events; on the other hand it could be lived in nice relax moments. Once inside, the eye is immediately seized by Capri, which from the window burst out as a living painting upon the shining sea. On the period fireplace stand three pieces of peculiar historical value: the first of particular charm, is the sabre ascribed to Gioacchino Murat, who apparently wanted to leave that in his memory to the landlord; the other two are tiles, found in the ancient stable, engraved with two horse names, Alfano and Ali, rode by the king of Naples during his stay in Massa Lubrense. The marvelous beauty of the landscape completes the living room: from the terrace one can admire, from different angles, view over the coast of the gulf of Naples and of the Sorrento Peninsula. From this living room one has access to the bedroom furnished with period furniture and with a stylish bathroom. Joining the ground floor to the upper one and to the solarium with view, a sumptuous historical staircase of Massa Lubrense sandstone, extracted from Chiaia beach and from Marina della Lombra, enriched with poignant mosaics from the XVIII century. Majesting and enchanting is the first floor of villa Generale the Dwelling upon Capri is the heart of the historical villa in Massa Lubrense. From this floor one has access to the widest and most beautiful terrace of the villa, with a breathtaking view over the entire gulf of Naples and the isle of Capri. Every room is full of charme: the three bedrooms, the two bathrooms are alternated with two very intimate and cosy halls, and three living rooms all furnished with period furniture; each room is gifted with windows and balconies just over the sea.The suite is preserved pristine, and is the room in which the king supposedly sojourned in the 1808. Between these walls, still nicely frescoed, the English commander Hudson Lowe signed the agreement of surrender of the isle of Capri which Murat had conquered back. The kitchen is built in typical glazed ceramics, from the XIX century, predominantly sky-blue, decorated with elegant motifs from the Sorrento Coast. Although the period wood stove gives an unforgettable feeling of ancient, the kitchen is furnished with all the modern comforts.
